Kirri Lee

Education/Qualifications: I have completed a Diploma in Community Services and a Bachelor of Education (P-12). I have lots of experience supporting young people within schools during my study and some volunteer positions, but have a strong passion in supporting people more directly. I have previously worked in Complex Mental Health, supporting recovery in group settings, and some 1:1 intervention support work. I loved working with clients, learning about their experiences and watching them grow as people.

Hobbies/Interests: I really enjoy anything creative - crafts and painting, mostly. I’m always looking for projects to do at home! I also love music from many different genres, but have very little skill in playing any music.

Tell us about yourself? Including what you like about being a support worker: I have a very creative teenage son with an Autism diagnosis and a highly energetic 1 year old Jack Russell. As a family, we enjoy going to the beach when the weather is cooler, getting out into nature, or just chilling in our sanctuary (home).

Throughout my life, I have always gravitated towards people who have felt a bit different in their lives - with most of my friends being some form of neurodivergent and I love getting to know each person’s unique personalities! Which is one of the appeals of Support Work - being able to really get to know people, learning about what makes them unique and special, and seeing them thrive on the path of their choice.

Quirky Questions:

In another life, I’m pretty sure that I…. was the town witch - like the woman living on the edge of the village who made friends with the forest animals.

The best piece of advice that I’ve ever been given is…. “Speak to yourself as you would speak to someone you love”

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be…. Teleportation - I would love to be able to go anywhere in the blink of an eye.

Cats or dogs…. I love dogs, like they are my happy place and it is not uncommon for me to approach strangers to ask to pet their dogs!

What’s your favourite movie? I don’t have a single favourite movie - but enjoy supernatural/magic and post-apocalyptic themed franchises.
